Warranty Coverage
Major Tech warrants its test instruments to be free from defects in materials or workmanship under normal use and service for a period of two (2) years from the date of shipment. This warranty is extended exclusively to the original purchaser, provided the online Product Registration has been completed on www.majortech.com.au, depending on which country the product was purchased. This warranty is non-transferable.
Exclusions
This warranty does not cover:
- Disposable batteries and fuses
- Damage caused by leaking batteries (damaging the meter and components)
- Normal wear and tear of mechanical components
- Failures caused by use outside the product’s specifications
- Any product which, in the opinion of Major Tech, has been misused, contaminated, or damaged due to neglect
Check Procedure
Prior to contacting Major Tech regarding a warranty claim, please check the following:
- Batteries are installed correctly
- Battery condition – either replace disposable batteries or ensure rechargeable batteries are charged where applicable
- Test leads are inserted in the correct terminals and are fully inserted with no damage to test leads
Warranty Claim Procedure
In the event that you believe a product is defective in accordance with the terms of this warranty, you must:
- Return the product to your closest Major Tech office. Before returning a product for a warranty claim, you need to ensure your product is registered online through the Major Tech warranty product registration portal. For all products purchased before November 2024, please be sure to return your product to your selected Major tech branch along with a written explanation of the defect and all associated accessories supplied with the product.
- The customer will bear all transport and insurance costs to send the goods back to Major Tech. Should the product be found to be faulty and within warranty, you will be reimbursed for your return transport and insurance costs for sending the product to Major Tech. Please be aware that Major Tech will cover the return transport and insurance cost of your appointed courier to a maximum value of $50.00 Australian Dollars, upon which if this is approved by Major Tech, we shall require proof of invoice from your transport company for the reimbursement.
- Please note that Major Tech will only accept returns that are delivered by reputable and recognisable couriers and transport services. If you are not returning the product yourself to a selected Major Tech branch and are using a courier, we will not accept rideshare or app-operated delivery services such as Uber, Bolt, Taxify, and similar services. Your return will be rejected at the gate at your own cost.
Major Tech’s distributors and accredited Calibration Labs are not authorized to replace or credit any product under warranty claims.
Remedies
At its sole discretion, Major Tech reserves the right to:
- Repair or replace defective goods, or
- Refuse any warranty claims that are excluded from this warranty.
Responsibilities and Costs
Major Tech will cover the transport and insurance costs for returning the repaired or replaced products to you, provided the repair or replacement falls under the warranty conditions set out above. If a product is repaired at your request that is not in accordance with our warranty conditions, you agree to pay all costs, including all repairs, transport, and insurance costs.
Limitations
In no event shall Major Tech’s liability, whether in law or otherwise, exceed the original purchase price of the product. Any repair or replacement of the product does not extend the original warranty period.
Out of Warranty Repairs
Repairs, parts, and services for products that are out of warranty are warranted for ninety (90) days from the date of shipment.
